“A word after a word after a word is power.”

Today's Prompt:
A chance encounter at a bar.
Regina's 15-minute creative writing:
The wind was warm and sweet on my lips. I lifted the sweating glass of soda water and lemon to my lips, revelling in the sour bite, the bubbles tickling my nose. I glanced around at the crowded bar patio and beyond to the river, sparkling and shining like diamonds on blue silk. I smiled. It was the perfect day.
Then, my spine tingled. I could feel someone watching me. My eyes roamed over the wooden tables with their beer-drinking tubers, returning campers and the odd annoyed local. Not one turned head. I shrugged and turned back to my book when I caught the dark gaze of a stranger through the glass panes in the swinging door.
He stood staring at me through the door, in the center of a crowd of men all in crisp golf clothes, jostling and laughing like children. The staring man shoved one of them off and took a single step forward.
I tilted my head and considered him. He was tall, almost too tall, 6’4, 6’5 maybe, and broad in the shoulders and chest. He had thick arms that pressed against the cuffs of his shirt sleeves and a dark beard, greying at the sides and under his lip. Piercing dark eyes sat in a roughly cut face, starkly handsome like a chainsaw carving. Heavy dark brows and a thick head of hair framed a strong nose, his forehead slightly creased as he stared on. His mouth hung open slightly, and I couldn't help but smile. The man had to be 45 if he was a day, and he had the expression of a 12-year-old just surprised with an ice cream sundae.
When my lips curved he raised his hand to his chest like his heart just stopped and I leaned forward slightly in concern. He looked so familiar. He must recognize me from – huh, nothing.
Curious now to get a closer look at him, I raised my hand and crooked one finger at him. He staggered forward, tripped on his feet and took a few crooked steps to recover before he reached the door. The men behind him laughed, pointed, then called out, “Drew!” “What the fuck, man?” “I ordered three pitchers!”
The man waved them off and shoved his way through the glass door, almost knocking a tray of empty glasses out of the arms of the waitress.
“Oh, my god. I am so sorry. Are you okay? Here, let me hold the door for you.” He held the door for the waitress, who shot him a tight smile. As she walked past, I heard her snarl, “Fucking tourists.” under her breath.
Then he turned those black eyes on me again and strode up to the table, taking one step too far and running into the edge, both jabbing himself roughly in the thigh and knocking my soda right over and ice and all into my lap.
“Ow!” He yelped, grabbing hold of his thigh with one broad hand the instant I leapt to my feet with a sharp, “Gah!”
I shook the ice cubes from my skirt, then brushed ineffectively at the wide, wet stain in my lap. The sassy red had turned a murky burgundy under the moisture, and I looked like I had pissed myself.
“Oh, my God. Ow. Are you okay? Fuck that hurt. Sorry. Um...” His deep voice was gravel on stone, sending an electric spark up my spine despite my annoyance. I slowly raised my head, standing straight inch by inch as I took him in.
A loafer-type shoe. They looked expensive and slightly ridiculous, the way men's clothes often do. Big shoes, though...Nice calves, thick and with sharper angles that spoke of years on his feet or in the gym.
